Structural Evaluation According to EN 13445-3 and Eurocode: Design Verification and Optimization
A comprehensive structural integrity assessment was carried out for a cyclone separator using nonlinear finite element analysis. All relevant load cases were considered. The verification was performed according to EN 13445-3 (elastic-plastic) and based on applicable Eurocode standards for load definitions and bolted joint evaluations. As part of the analysis, optimizations were implemented regarding sheet thicknesses, rib arrangement, and weld seam design.
- Explosion load case — Verification of pressure surge resistance using an elastic–ideally plastic material model
 - Earthquake load case — Load definition and application according to Eurocode
 - Wind load case — Load definition based on Eurocode standards
 - Vacuum load case — Preloaded, nonlinear buckling failure (geometric, material-based, and due to initial imperfections) under operating and failure scenarios
 - Snow load — Standard loading according to Eurocode
 - Emergency load case — Hydrostatic pressure loading in damage or emergency scenarios
 - Assembly/Lifting load case — Crane handling, sub-zero assembly temperatures; verification of lifting lugs and bolted joints; guidance on non-destructive weld testing
