An iterative optimization of the guide vane function for the corner-relief expansion joint was carried out using the Ansys Discovery Suite.
The goal was to reduce pressure loss and enhance flow behavior, which was successfully achieved while maintaining the required flow parameters. The load-bearing capacity of the base material was verified according to DIN EN 13445-3, Annex B, and the static strength of the welded joints was assessed per Annex C. Design modifications included a material change for the outer protective ring and an extension of the guide vanes.
